She received her Master degree in Community Counseling from the University of Phoenix, in Phoenix Arizona, and started her counseling career in 2002. In 2005 she shifted focus to children ages birth to five, mostly in foster care placements, after having been the victim or witness to unspeakable trauma and violence.
In 2009 she found herself in the Maricopa County System for the Seriously Mentally Ill using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat serious mental health conditions ranging from personality disorders, mood disorders, dissociation, addiction (eating disorder, substance abuse, gambling addiction, shoplifting), trauma, and grief/loss.
She was trained in EMDR Therapy through the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) in 2011/2012.
In 2015 she opened her private practice, Hope for Healing Counseling.
In 2017 she began volunteering with HAP to facilitate training for other clinicians in EMDR therapy and in 2020 she became an Approved Trainer in EMDR Therapy.
She moved to Southwestern Vermont in 2021 and is dual licensed and seeing clients in the states of Arizona & Vermont.
In 2022 she became Certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the OK Corral Series.
In 2023 Stacy became an approved EMDR Training Provider and founded Hope Training. In addition to becoming a Certified Grief Educator with training from David Kessler.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is an approach which combines bi-lateral stimulation and engagement of the Adaptive Information Processing system to allow the person to release connection to the negative cognition and allow new information to be processed which changes the internal self talk and results in reduced negative emotion attached to traumatic events. Training/Teaching/Speaker
I have experience training/presenting on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with Trauma Recovery Network/Humanitarian Assistance Program (TRN/HAP). I have experience training/presenting on Dialectical Behavior Therapy Theory and Skills for the Maricopa County Regional Behavioral Health Authority. I have done one time speaking engagements and presentations on burnout prevention, suicide assessment and prevention, and drug use and addiction topics. I served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Grand Canyon University and Glendale Community College for 6 years. Supervision
I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with both the AZ Board of Behavioral Health and the Center for Credentialing in Education (part of NBCC). I am on the list of Approved Clinical Supervisors with the Vermont Office of Professionals. |
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
This is my theoretical orientation. I focus on two simultaneous processes, that of validating the perspective of the person and that of challenging the person to grow and change as needed. DBT is loaded with skills building and tools for more effective living. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Often a person lacks hope for the future because of the way they think about their current situation. CBT helps people evaluate the effectiveness and validity of their thought process and helps them become more effective in their interpretations and understanding of the world around them. ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) helps people connect to their values and find more happiness in living. Consulting & Training
I have a creative approach to things and tend to think outside the box. If you need someone to consult with and help brainstorm ideas or potential barriers to an idea, contact me. I'd love to discuss. I have done consultation work with agencies and am an Approved Consultant, Facilitator, and Trainer with EMDRIA and HAP for EMDR. I also provide EMDR Training through my own Hope Training organization. Certified Grief Educator
A Certified Grief Educator is committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief. Certified Grief Educators completed a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler. They bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help people navigate the challenges of grief. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine Assisted Learning
I am Certified in EAP/EAL through the OK Corral Series RED: Crisis to Confidence training. Equine-assisted work honors the natural behavior of horses and herds. Horses are skilled at keeping themselves safe and adept at survival; their natural behaviors are optimal for mental and physical health. In many respects, humans have lost the instinct to keep themselves safe and healthy. We entrust horses to show us the way back to health. Work and observation in the horse world lends itself to extremely powerful metaphors into our own patterns, strengths, and the nonverbal messages we send out. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy implements the power of equine-assisted principles and exercises to introduce therapy clients to themselves in a modality that has been found to be more efficient and less threatening than traditional talk therapy. Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is a field of practice based on the successes of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. We have learned that everyone can benefit from equine-assisted work - not just therapy clients. EAL uses equine-assisted principles and exercises in a variety of "arenas" from corporate retreats, to church groups, personal coaching, parenting and family dynamics and more! Business Consultation
